Origin
Moldavite is a tektite, formed about 14.8 million years ago after a meteorite impact in the area of the present-day Ries crater in southern Germany.
The immense heat and force hurled silicate materials into the air, where they hardened in the atmosphere. The fragments that fell back to Earth in the Czech Republic, particularly around the Vltava River, were later called moldavite.

Nesmen prized for its Moldavites of a deep green, sometimes forest green, often beautifully formed.
Vrabče produces many pieces with a characteristic bright green color and sometimes “bubbles” and a fine texture.
Marušeč region (Marušeč near Besednice), famous for its "hedgehog-shaped moldavites" with pointed and rough structures, highly sought after by collectors.
